Job Summary: The Plant Manager, Material Recovery Facility (MRF) ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned MRF while maintaining cost management.

The successful candidate is a visible, hands-on leader who thrives under pressure, makes sound real-time decisions, and drives a strong culture of accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Other minor duties may be assigned.

Ensures smooth operation of site, including gatehouse, sorting, and loading.

Ensures system is performing at highest level and minimizes handling and operational costs.

Continually works to reduce turnaround time for trucks in and out of site and regularly proposes means of operational improvement.

Acts as a liaison for community relationships and customers, where necessary.

Oversees and manages the company''s contractual obligations.

Complies with and ensures adherence to the company''s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.

Submits reasonable budget information, analyzes data versus year-to-date and prior year budget.

Assists in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.

Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the MRF through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees.

Identifies and eliminates waste to improve flow, reduce downtime, and optimize labor and equipment utilization.

Leads problem-solving initiatives using structured methodologies and drives a culture of continuous improvement with measurable results.





Conducts and/or attends periodic safety meetings and provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.

Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The highest level of supervisory skills required is the management of supervisory employees.

This includes: Direct supervision of 4-5 full-time employees.

Indirect supervision of approximately 40-45 full-time employees.

Builds, coaches, and develops supervisors and frontline teams; sets transparent expectations and holds teams accountable for performance and behavior; fosters a positive, engaged, and high-performing work environment; motivates teams during high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and discipline.

Oversees personnel needs including selecting, coaching, training employees, and evaluating performance; provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

Preferred: Experience leading a team of 4-5 salaried employees including managers and supervisors.

Basic Qualifications: Education: Bachelor''s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.

Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire and influence teams.

Calm and decisive under pressure, with strong problem-solving ability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Data-driven mindset with strong analytical capabilities.

High level of ownership, accountability, and integrity.
