Mechanic III Red Seal Heavy-Duty / Truck & Transport Mechanic Location: Selkirk, Manitoba Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Employment Type: Unionized Hours: 40 hours per week Pay Rate: $39.04$40.62/hour, based on experience and collective agreement placement About the Opportunity Staffmax Staffing & Recruiting is hiring on behalf of one of our clients in Selkirk, Manitoba, for a full time, permanent Mechanic III position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and performing servicing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for a wide range of small equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment.

This role will support the maintenance of equipment used across multiple operations, including transit and emergency services.

Key Responsibilities Perform servicing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on small equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment.

Complete vehicle safety inspections in accordance with Manitoba Provincial Vehicle Inspection requirements.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, fuel injection, and computerized systems.

Maintain accurate records of servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs.

Maintain inventory of commonly used parts and supplies.

Assist with sourcing parts and obtaining quotes for repairs requiring external service providers.

Provide information and recommendations regarding major repairs and equipment maintenance.

Provide support, guidance, and training to other team members as required.

Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate daily and weekly maintenance activities.

Lead, assign work to, and monitor the performance of other staff as required.





Respond to emergency and after-hours service requests when required.

Operate heavy equipment and other designated equipment.

Use electric and gas welding and cutting equipment.

Support emergency management and other operational requirements as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.

Journeyperson certification as a Red Seal Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician or Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic.

Certification to perform Manitoba Provincial Vehicle Inspections on large trucks, air brake vehicles, and buses.

Valid Class 3 Manitoba Drivers Licence with air brake endorsement.

Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electronic diagnostics, computerized systems, fuel injection systems, and electronic controls.

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Ability to operate heavy equipment and other designated equipment.

Ability to maintain accurate records and establish preventative maintenance schedules.

Ability to operate electric and gas welding and cutting equipment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Ability to perform the physical duties and labour associated with the position.

Assets Supervisory experience or supervisory training.

Experience leading, assigning, and coordinating the work of other employees.
