We have an exciting opportunity in the Central and North Region (CNR)! The Technical Specialist, Fire Protection Engineering, provides fire protection engineering planning and documentation support to Client-Partner fire protection programs.

The incumbent acts as a technical specialist, providing advice on policies and strategies, and coordinating project development activities for large and high-risk projects.

The incumbent ensures compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines, and manages the Client-Partner relationship. KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive: Primary Provide expert advice and guidance for policy development, review construction drawings and specifications, inspect construction sites for compliance with contract documentation and accepted design standards Review contractor inspection reports for compliance with contract documents and provide direction to address deficiencies and recommendations Provide technical support for various processes (e.g. statements of work, selection of consultants for construction projects, information requests) Provide expert advice on the preparation of contract documents for active and passive fire protection systems Support and/or lead business development activities Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders Ensure quality standards are met,



in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations Manage risk Other Witness acceptance inspections on behalf of relevant authorities and review construction for compliance with approved project documentation Support the DCC commissioning practice area (e.g. prepare commissioning checklists, deliver training, manage resources, meet Client-Partner needs) Other duties as assigned SKILLS General and Specific Knowledge Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in fire protection engineering, fire prevention and enforcement and health and safety Building materials, construction and principles of combustion Building extinguishing and alarm systems Project and risk management principles Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience Minimum: college diploma in fire protection engineering or related field with five years relevant experience, or the equivalent Preferred: National Fire Protection Association certification (Fire Inspector Certificate Level II and Certified Fire Plan Examiner or NFPA 1030) with a minimum of three years experience in a fire engineering organization, including involvement in fire inspection, fire safety plan review, engineering plan review,



compliance/acceptance testing and report review for fire detection and suppression systems; as well as membership in the National Association of Fire Investigators Abilities Use applicable computer software and operating systems Read and interpret construction plans and specifications related to fire Write policies, business cases, options analysis and statements of work for large and high-risk projects Apply project and risk management techniques DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP Provide functional direction and advice to employees and the Client-Partners WORKING CONDITIONS Typical office environment with routine travel Frequent work may be located on construction sites; incumbent may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment Check out your benefits Working with us offers excellent opportunities for growth and advancementand entitles you to one of the job markets best benefits packages valued at between 25 and 30% of your salary.
