DUTIES The School of Nursing, Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) program requires a sessional faculty member to teach the laboratorycomponentof the course NURS 5350: Clinical Reasoning in Advanced Health Assessment in the Winter 2027term.
The focus of NURS 5350 is on preparing students to integrate clinical reasoning with knowledge and skillsrequiredto conduct advanced health assessments with clients from infancy through advanced age and life transitions common to all life stages. Applicants should be experts on the subject matter for this course.
The successful applicant will be the instructor responsible for delivery of the labcomponentof this courseappropriate tothe levelrequiredfor MN-NP students.
Experience teaching post-secondary education is an asset.
Experience teaching nurse practitioner students is an asset.
Experience teaching advanced health assessment and clinical reasoning is an asset.
All lab sessions are offered in person at TRUs Kamloops campus.
The workload allocation for each lab instructor in this course is 2 credits per 8 students.
The total lab workload availablefor is2credits.
There is a separate teaching contract for the theoryportionof this course, which may or may not be the same as laboratory faculty. QUALIFICATIONS PhD (or equivalent) is preferred; Master''s degree for nurse practitioner (NP) preparation is required; Current NP registration in a Canadian jurisdiction in good standing without limits or conditions, and/or eligibility for registration with BCCNM; Three (3) years full time or equivalent in the role of a Nurse Practitioner; Evidence of continuous learning in your area of nursing; and An understanding of, and experience in, the Canadian healthcare system.
