We are looking for a Software Safety Engineer to join the Safety & Mission Assurance team in Brampton. As a Software Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for product safety requirements and analysis for LEO and lunar destination projects.
What you will be doing:
- Perform product safety development activities.
- Conduct safety and hazard assessments and analyses on projects involving complex electromechanical systems with a significant software component.
- Perform software criticality analysis.
- Develop product software safety requirements to meet customer and mission requirements.
- Perform trade-off studies to ensure requirements are appropriate.
- Work with design, systems engineering, and software teams to ensure safety-related inputs are incorporated into the design.
- Analyze safety-critical software documentation and source code.
- Analyze reused software for safety.
- Defend safety decisions to internal and external customers.
- Ensure safety requirements are met during the design phase.
- Contribute to System Safety Analysis Reports.
- Present safety designs at safety review panels.
What you must have:
- 5+ years of software safety experience in a safety-critical development setting, preferably in aerospace.
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to develop safety requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
- Strong aptitude for continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with the Canadian Space Agency or NASA is an asset.
Salary/Rate Range: $95,000-$132,000 / year CAD (depending on experience)
