Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Sales and Workforce Solutions (SWS), this position is an integral member of the team. As the subject matter expert on D365 CRM, the Business Strategist provides Data Analytics that adds valuable market insights and data that help inform and shape the go-to market strategy of the Division. The Business Strategist – SWS collaborates with key members of the Department to effectively plan and implement D365 configurations and updates pertaining to External Division. They also provide expertise and support related to the use of Click Dimensions, which is a critical communications tool for External Engagement and synchronization of data between D365 and Raiser’s Edge NXT.
This position collaborates with stakeholders (ITS, PMO, External Vendors, etc) for the D365 system CRM and continues to provide and support end user training. The incumbent builds an understanding of the functionality of D365 CRM and makes continued recommendations on system maintenance and integration. The role is key in operationalizing and sustaining D365 CRM to help advance the priorities and goals of Sales and Workforce Development.
D365 CRM Data Analytics and Working with Key Departments
Leverages CRM data to deliver operational insights, performance metrics, trends that identify new Revenue streams for SWS.
Translates data to support strategic plans and operational decision making.
Develops and maintains standard adhoc reports, in collaboration with Business Intelligence and Analytics, Finance and SWS team.
Monitors SWS Revenue monthly comparing results to Fiscal Business Plan and Previous Year.
Breaks down revenue data for the portfolio to include Digital Entertainment Nexus, Pivot Ed, Extended Education, Global, Rental Facilities and Compliance Health.
Consolidates Monthly and Year to Date Financial Results vs Plan and Previous Year.
Financial support through evaluating department costs vs budgets, pricing analytics and strategy.
CRM support around key metrics to include pipeline management, prospects, tracking future revenue.
Conducts and gathers data and research that supports key industries to target along with targeting global markets to explore.
Interfaces with research team and academic to secure data and information that supports insights for SWS Business Plans.
Analyzes CRM, market, and financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and provides recommendations that inform strategic planning, business development initiatives, and revenue growth strategies.
Acts as the functional lead for D365 CRM, evaluating business requirements and recommending system enhancements, integrations, and process improvements to maximize operational effectiveness.
Provides recommendations regarding revenue performance, pipeline management, market opportunities, and customer engagement strategies.
Business Strategist SWS Engagement and Interaction with Other Departments
Analyzes data patterns and anomalies, defining business requirements, and providing data mapping logic for business units that include SWS, Finance, Fund Development and Alumni Relations, Government Relations and Indigenous
Collaborating with these departments regarding data governance and data integrity and reporting between D365 and Raiser’s Edge.
Advises operational units within External Engagement and across the College on best practices of D365 features and technical solutions.
Project coordination and other related business units, as needed.
Subject matter expert on technical aspects of Click Dimensions.
Translates the needs of operational units for other enterprises or CRM systems, i.e. Raiser’s Edge, to collaboratively determine what data should flow in what timing between applications and D365.
Collaborate on the Raiser’s Edge visibility dashboard and help define next stage of D365 usage report
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
2 to 4 years of relevant experience
Expert knowledge a variety of application systems, including but not limited to Microsoft suite of applications
Solid understanding of business practices and policies within a post-secondary context
Demonstrated organizational skills and strategic thinking abilities
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
Significant CRM systems usage
Experience collaborating with sales and marketing teams.
Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and system users to establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidence
Self-starter and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team to make decisions in accordance with College policies and procedures
A demonstrated aptitude for improving processes and user experience
Previous experience as a project team member and the use of project management and business analysis methodologies
Structured approach to problem solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining a holistic perspective
Excellent attention to detail and skills to produce quality deliverables that account for all areas involved
Considerable knowledge Microsoft related systems and procedures as well as Bow Valley College structure
