Apprentice Fire Prevention and Security Technician

This position is reserved for Nunavik Inuit Beneficiary of the JBNQA

PERMANENT POSITION

The work location is at Nunavik and the normal work schedule is on a rotation of 4 weeks: 2 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 2 weeks for off.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supervisor and Team Lead, the Apprentice Fire Prevention / Security Technician is primarily responsible for:

- Conducting required inspections of fire safety equipment and systems at the Expo site, as well as vehicles used by the Security and Emergency Measures Services and the Fire Brigade;
- Providing support to Security and Emergency Measures dispatchers and supervisors in carrying out their daily duties;
- Ensuring the maintenance and proper operation of fire extinguishers;
- Providing training to employees;
- Conducting road patrols;
- Ensuring compliance with camp rules and regulations;
- Representing the employer within the scope of their responsibilities;




- Performing any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma (DES) (an asset);
- Firefighter 1 certification or Fire Alarm Technician certification (ACAI/CFAA), or any other relevant experience related to the position may be considered (an asset);
- Valid general explosives permit (an asset);
- Relevant work experience related to the position (an asset);
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Possession of a valid Class 5 or territorial driver’s license (mandatory);
- Possession of a valid Class 4A driver’s license (an asset);
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, or French (trilingualism considered an asset).

- Complies with occupational health and safety regulations, as well as environmental requirements;
