As a Fitter Fabricator, you will support welding and fabrication activities by preparing and handling materials, receiving and shipping items, assisting with fitting and assembly work, and maintaining a safe and organized shop workplace. Primary duties include:

- Review work orders and prepare pipe, steel and other materials by cutting, drilling, bending or shaping them according to specifications.
- Pick up and deliver materials, including railings and base plates, to and from the shop.
- Receive and ship materials, verify packing slips and quantities, and apply quality-control labels.
- Maintain the shop by cleaning work areas, removing waste and completing minor equipment repairs.
- Assist Welders with fitting and fabrication work, including assembling, disassembling and tack welding parts.

Qualifications





- A completed high school diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED) and at least one year of related experience.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary's operator's permit.
- The successful candidate must be mechanically inclined, able to follow technical work instructions, and familiar with common hand tools.
- Familiarity with the profiles, weights and grades of various materials, along with the ability to perform bench work involving different types of metal stock and accurately use gauges and other measuring tools.
- Success in this position requires strong attention to technical detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a shop environment and is subject to hazards such as arc-flashes, chemicals, fumes and gases.

- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
