Job Overview:
Working closely with the HR Operations Team, the HR Operations Coordinator - Payroll Accounting is responsible for processing US payroll and payroll accounting activities, including payroll journal entries, general ledger postings, account reconciliations, and month-end reporting. This role ensures accurate payroll execution, financial integrity of payroll data, and compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.

What the job is all about:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for US employees ensuring accuracy and timelines are met
- Process terminations, including calculation of final pay and vacation entitlements
- Process and upload variable earnings including commissions, incentives, and other pay adjustments
- Ensure payroll data integrity by reviewing employee information and payroll inputs prior to processing
- Responsible for all G/L posting and month-end reporting for all payroll transactions
- Prepare, review, and post payroll-related journal entries
- Review and reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
- Investigate and resolve payroll accounting variances in collaboration with Finance and Accounting
- Support payroll clearing account reconciliations and ensure payroll payments are accurately reflected in the general ledger
- Assist with year-end activities including reconciliations and preparation of payroll-related reports and forms
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and timesheet entries in a timely and professional manner
- Support compliance activities and maintain accurate records
- Participate in payroll and HR-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Who you are:
- Payroll accounting experience is required, including G/L postings, payroll journal entries, month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and payroll clearing account reconciliations
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
- 2–5 years’ experience in payroll, benefits, accounting, or HR operations
- Certification in payroll is an asset
- US payroll experience is not required but would be considered a solid asset.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll systems (Dayforce or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Salary Information:
The pay range for this role in Canada is: 55,500 - 72,500 CAD

Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, knowledge, and role-specific qualifications, and may be adjusted to recognize candidates accordingly.
