The Forensic Research Division is currently seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Analyst. Reporting to the Research Operations Manager, Clinical Research and working under the supervision of the Division Scientists, your accountabilities will include collecting research data via patient interviews and chart review, as well as cleaning, coding and analyzing data. You will also be responsible for searching and retrieving electronic research resources, retrieving articles from the library and internet and synthesizing academic literature. You will be expected to support Division Scientists with grant applications, research ethics board submissions, conference presentations, posters and peer-reviewed journal articles. You may be involved with recruiting and interviewing clients in forensic hospital settings and liaising with staff members. Other research related duties may be assigned as required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West and requires in office work. Occasional travel to correctional facilities within the Greater Toronto Area may be required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field combined with at least one (1) year of related experience. Prior research experience with the forensic mental health system and diverse clinical populations (e.g., inpatient psychiatric, correctional) is strongly preferred. Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting, and in recruiting, testing and interviewing individuals with severe mental illness is a definite asset.



Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office standard applications is required. Experience and proficiency in medical chart review, data coding, entry, and analysis is strongly preferred. Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS) is required.

The successful candidate is a motivated, reliable, flexible, and organized individual who is professional and has the ability to interact with forensic psychiatric clients of diverse cultural backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and organization skills are required in this position. You must have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a dynamic research team environment with minimal supervision. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $27.95- $37.28 per hour
