We are a remote wilderness lodge in Northern Manitoba - accessible only through air travel. The nearest dirt road is over 200 miles away!

We are seeking a Live-In Winter Caretaker to provide essential oversight, security, maintenance and upkeep of our remote Lodge in Northern Manitoba. Gangler's North Seal River Lodge is inaccessible by road. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with solitude, working independently, have excellent problem solving skills and maintenance skills.

We are looking for someone that is very observant, aware and able to provide security as well as oversight and maintenance. In addition, this candidate will be required to document their experiences in writing and photos. If you are selected for this position, you will be flown in and out of the lodge at the start and end of the term for which you are selected to work.

Responsibilities

- To provide security - to guard, protect and maintain the lodge and grounds against theft, weather and other potential damages.





- To perform multiple maintenance tasks including daily inspections and maintaining and monitoring our solar and water systems.

- To write and provide media for our popular blog series: The Winter Caretaker Report.

Requirements

- Proficient mechanical and small engine repair skills

- Proficient general maintenance and repair skills

- Proficient operating a snowmobile and possibly other ATVs

- Basic housekeeping skills

- Ability to read, write and take photos (help with editing can be provided)

- Experienced and comfortable handling firearms

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Self-motivated, responsible and able to think and work independently with little oversight or instruction

Details of Position:

Pay will be $3,000 CAD per month with a $1,000 per month Bonus paid upon completion of contract

September 26 - February 1

February 1 - May 24
