Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Edmonton operations. In this role, you will provide maintenance support Monday through Friday and play a vital part in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, this role is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a diverse fleet, including waste disposal highway trucks, passenger vehicles, and heavy equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

- Responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.
- Perform vehicle inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment as required.
- Provide recommendations and insight on shop setup and processes to improve fleet service efficiency.
- Thoroughly complete work orders to support internal maintenance tracking, parts inventory management, and compliance with company, provincial, and federal requirements.
- Perform diagnostics & repair to engine and associated systems, emissions systems, drive systems, brake systems, electrical systems, steering and suspension, HVAC, Body systems, hydraulics, and air systems.
- Learn and operate computer-based maintenance software. Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems is considered an asset.
- Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe workplace.
- Maintain company-provided tools and equipment.
- Follow all company safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Follow and administer scheduled maintenance programs as outlined by the company.




- Perform other duties as directed by the Area Fleet Manager.

Qualifications

- Certified Heavy Equipment Journeyperson certification is required.
- Experience with waste disposal trucks and equipment is considered an asset.
- Experience with hydraulic systems is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required.
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement considered an asset, with a pay premium available for qualified licenses and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting Pay: From $47.00 per hour + incentives

Incentives Available:

- Annual Tool Allowance: $1,500.00
- Boot Allowance
- CVIP License Premium
- Class 3 or Class 1 License Premium
- Afternoon/Night Shift Premium: Applicable for shifts starting after 1:00 PM
- Vacation Pay: Starting at 4 weeks vacation pay
