Day & Evening Line Cook – Fence & Post

At Fence & Post, we’re a small, independent restaurant with a big passion for craftsmanship. From hand-shaped sourdough and house-cured meats to ice cream churned from scratch, nearly everything on our menu is made in-house. We work closely with local producers to showcase the best of Alberta through thoughtful, seasonal cooking.

We’re currently looking for a Day & Evening Line Cook to join our team.

This position will primarily involve evening line shifts, with the possibility of occasional morning prep or line shifts. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys working through a busy service, takes pride in consistent execution and wants to develop their skills in a genuinely scratch-focused kitchen.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Setting up and stocking your station for service
- Executing dishes accurately, efficiently and consistently during service
- Cooking and plating according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Communicating clearly with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Preparing ingredients and components from scratch
- Assisting with sauces, stocks, bread, desserts, butchery, charcuterie and other in-house preparations
- Learning and applying techniques such as roasting, braising, smoking, fermentation, curing, preservation, baking and sauce making
- Monitoring product quality, freshness and station levels
- Following food-safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Keeping your station and surrounding work areas exceptionally clean and organized
- Supporting other stations and team members as needed to ensure a successful service

What We’re Looking For

- Previous line-cook or professional kitchen experience is preferred, although attitude and work ethic are equally important
- Availability for evening shifts, including weekends, with some flexibility for occasional morning shifts
- The ability to stay organized,



focused and composed during busy services
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistency
- A genuine interest in scratch cooking and developing culinary skills
- Pride in cleanliness and maintaining an organized workspace
- Reliability, punctuality and strong communication
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to the team
- A passion for food and a desire to continue learning
