Position Summary

Reporting to the Youth Program Supervisor (or designate), the Youth Program Worker (Skills & Work Focus) will support the planning and delivery of youth employment, skills development, and recreation programming for youth aged 12 – 19. The role helps create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment while supporting youth in developing employment readiness, leadership, and life skills.

Job Responsibilities

- Plan and implement skill-building and work readiness activities reflecting the needs and interests of local youth (e.g., resume support, job search strategies, interview preparation, employment resources, self-employment and entrepreneurship, communication skills, etc.).
- Design and facilitate workshops and group activities that prompt leadership, teamwork, self-awareness, and goal setting, independence, accountability, etc.).
- Provide one-on-one support to youth as needed, including guidance on employment and personal development goals.
- Support the delivery of youth programs, including drop-ins, workshops, and community events that contribute to an inclusive, engaged, and harmonious environment for youth.
- Mentor and engage youth participants in activities such as sports, recreation, arts,



and personal development.
- Build positive relationships with youth, families, and community members.
- Support youth engagement through outreach, relationship-building, and consistent program presence.
- Assist with program planning, evaluation, and reporting as part of the Youth Program team.
- Support crisis prevention, de-escalation, and emergency response using a trauma-informed approach.
- Collaborate with the program team to ensure daily opening and closing procedures of designated youth program spaces, and appropriate upkeep of facilities (clean, tidy, attractive, protected from misuse/theft, etc.).
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and community events as required.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration, contribute with enthusiasm to WWCC initiatives, and embody the values of Warden Woods as part of our unique communities.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Minimum two year of experience working with youth in a community setting.
- Minimum one year of experience supporting youth though employment, skills development, and work readiness programming.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver and adapt different types of programming for young people, including programs focused on employment, skills development, and leadership.
- Demonstrated understanding of barriers facing youth within Warden Woods and how to apply a trauma-informed approach.
- Ability to plan and facilitate group activities and support youth engagement in a respectful and inclusive way.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to build rapport with youth.




- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Understanding of equity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practices.
- Knowledge of community life in Southwest Scarborough is an asset.
- Currently enrolled/completed education in social work, community development, or child and youth work is an asset.
- Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate and Food Handler’s Certification are an asset.
- A clear Criminal Reference Check is a condition of employment.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Compensation and Hours of Work:

- Employment type: Contract, Part-time
- Contract ending June 30, 2027
- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 5-hour shifts between 1 PM and 8 PM, weekends as needed (subject to change as per program requirements)
- Hourly Rate: $23.15
- Work Location: in-person at 74 Firvalley Court, Scarborough
