Happy Pooch Superior was first established in Yellowknife in 2010 with a commitment to providing exceptional pet care through compassion, professionalism, and continual improvement. Since then, we've grown every year by constantly learning, refining our practices, and investing in better care for our guests.

In the fall of 2024, we opened our recent Thunder Bay District location on a beautiful rural property surrounded by nature. Our purpose-built facility was designed with comfort, cleanliness, and safety in mind, and we continue to invest in construction projects and facility improvements as we grow. Work Environment & Company Culture

Happy Pooch Superior is located on a quiet rural property where our guests enjoy spacious outdoor play areas, walking trails, and a peaceful environment. As a Kennel Attendant, you'll spend much of your day outdoors caring for dogs, taking them on walks, providing enrichment activities, and creating positive experiences for every guest. While the setting is calm and scenic, it is also an active kennel environment. Barking dogs, muddy paws, changing weather, and busy periods are all part of the job, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a dynamic setting while remaining patient, calm, and attentive.

Position Summary

As a Kennel Attendant at Happy Pooch Superior, you will play an important role in providing exceptional care for our boarding and daycare guests while creating a clean, safe,



and welcoming environment for both pets and their families. This is a hands-on, physically active position that combines animal care, customer service, cleaning, grooming support, and general property maintenance. Every day is different, and no two dogs are alike.

Key Responsibilities Animal Care

- Provide compassionate daily care for dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes, and personalities.
- Walk dogs and provide safe, engaging enrichment activities tailored to each guest.
- Feed meals and administer medications according to written instructions.
- Closely monitor each dog's physical health, behaviour, appetite, and wellbeing, promptly reporting any concerns.
- Accurately document feeding, medications, elimination, behaviour, and other aspects of daily care.

Kennel Operations

- Maintain exceptionally clean and sanitary kennels, play areas, and common spaces.
- Perform detailed daily cleaning, laundry, dishwashing, and sanitation tasks.
- Follow established cleaning and biosecurity protocols to maintain a healthy environment.
- Ensure water buckets, bedding, toys, and guest accommodations remain clean and well maintained.

Grooming Support

- Bathe and dry dogs to support our grooming department.
- Prepare dogs for grooming appointments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of grooming equipment and work areas.

Customer Service

- Welcome clients in a friendly, professional manner.
- Communicate clearly and positively with clients in person, by phone, email, and messaging.
- Answer questions, assist with check-in and check-out appointments, and relay important information accurately.
- Represent Happy Pooch Superior with professionalism and outstanding customer service at all times.

Property & Facility Maintenance

- Assist with general property upkeep, landscaping, seasonal maintenance, and maintaining the appearance of the facility.
- Help keep indoor and outdoor spaces clean, organized, and welcoming throughout the year.
- Complete additional duties that contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

- Is dependable, punctual,



and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Is detail-oriented and able to follow established procedures consistently.
- Is patient, calm, and kind when working with animals and people.
- Is physically capable of standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Is comfortable handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, energy levels, and personalities.
- Works well independently while also contributing positively to a team.
- Is eager to learn and continuously improve.

Previous experience working with animals is considered an asset, but reliability, professionalism, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for animal welfare are equally important.

Schedule

This position is expected to begin at approximately 20 hours per week, with the opportunity for increased hours in the fall as the business continues to grow and the successful candidate demonstrates reliability and strong performance.

- Some statutory holidays

Shift times vary based on operational needs.

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour

- Are you currently located in the Thunder Bay area, legally eligible to work in Canada without requiring a work permit or employer sponsorship, and available to start immediately?
- This position requires standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs, frequent bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Are you able to perform these duties?
