Position: Butcher Assistant

Reports to: Butcher

A new boutique retail space in Yaletown, Luigi & Sons is a one-stop shop for the best butcher experience in Vancouver, high quality takeaway options, and house-made provisions. An extension of the Elisa Steakhouse family, Luigi & Sons allows guests to bring the very best selections home, including a hand-selected curation of meats sourced from high-grade local and global suppliers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Butcher Assistant ensures the availability of a wide range of quality well cut meat for customers and contributes to an exceptional customer experience through sharing product knowledge, making recommendations, and offering a personalized service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Actively engage with customers, cultivating relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Order, receive, inspect and store meat upon delivery
- Ensuring accurate cutting, grinding and preparing of meats for sale into portions and cooking form
- Preparing custom cutting to specific customer needs
- Using butcher’s cutlery and powered equipment,



and maintaining same
- Weighing, packaging, pricing, and displaying product
- Managing budgets and tracking inventory
- Ensuring adherence to all Food and Safety procedures and to stock control guidelines
- Remain current on market trends and competitor activity
- Consistently meet sales targets

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience in a meat department, working with equipment and machinery
- Experience in technical butchery skills including portion cutting and cleaning and grinding for sausages, burgers, etc.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills and work ethic
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including working in a cold/refrigerated environment, lifting 50 Ibs. and standing for extended periods of time
- Available to work a adaptable scheduling, including weekends

This position will remain open until filled.

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
