Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Days (0900-2100) or Continental Nights (2100-0900)

Payrate: $18.40/hr

Site Description: Baycrest is an academic health sciences centre providing a continuum of care for older adults, including independent living, assisted living, long-term care and a post-acute hospital specializing in the care of older adults all within one campus.

Key responsibilities:

- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution:



De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately and complete reports.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
- Work Location Flexibility: May be reassigned to a different site within a 40 km radius of Baycrest Hospital based on operational requirements
- Other duties as required

Prerequisites:

- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- N95 Mask
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Covid Vaccine two doses, and a two-step TB skin test
- Must own a reliable means of transportation to commute to various sites as needed
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Authorized to legally work in Canada
