We’re seeking an outgoing, energetic, and hardworking individual to join our Recreation Dept. This role is perfect for someone with excellent customer service skills, who enjoys helping customers and advising them to have a great time playing golf and playing at the arcade.

JOB SUMMARY

Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens is actively seeking a part-time Zookeeper Assistant to join our team. While previous experience working with a variety of animals is an asset, a willingness to learn and a passion for animal care are even more important.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fun, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The role offers exciting challenges, opportunities to develop new skills, and the rewarding experience of helping care for a diverse collection of animals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Preparing animal diets, vitamins and supplements
- Feeding animals.
- Safety inspection of animal habitats and public animal areas.
- Monitoring animal behavior, including animal eating habits and droppings for signs of illness and/or injury.
- Recommendations for animal husbandry, habitat and enclosure improvements, enrichment protocols, handling and caring.
- Maintaining animal records.
- Assisting with animal habitat and department repairs, inspections and reports.
- General tidiness, cleaning, disinfecting.




- May assist with veterinary routines and petting farm inspections.
- Some tasks include heavy lifting, bending and repetitive movements.
- Greeting guests and assisting them with questions.
- Hosting animal meet and greets and school group visits
- Participating in family friendly, group and educational events

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

- Passion for animals and a genuine interest in their care and well-being.
- Previous experience working with animals is an asset but not required; training will be provided.
- Ability to work in a quick-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Robust communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently when required.
- Willingness to work a adaptable schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
- Ability to follow established animal care, feeding, cleaning, and safety protocols.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take direction.

WORK WORKPLACE

- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and orderly working environment
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and varying shifts as necessary
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
