McDiarmid Electric Inc. is an electrical contracting company that offers Agricultural, Commercial, and Industrial electrical services in the rural areas in Eastern Ontario, and is home-based in Osgoode Township (30 minutes south of the City of Ottawa). We are seeking a motivated, experienced, hardworking and energetic individual to join the team.

McDiarmid Electric Inc works predominantly within the agricultural industry (dairy, poultry, grain, etc.). Candidates who are knowledegable on agricultural settings would be considered an asset.

We are currently hiring for an 309A Licensed Journeyman Electrician with relevant experience

License/Certification:

- A valid G Class Drivers License with a clean driving record
- A valid 309A License

Responsibilities:

- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit etc.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs of electrical equipment and systems
- Evaluate customer requests and blueprints, repair customer issues, and present a description of work to other team members
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Perform work with accuracy and efficiency.
- Install electrical panels and other devices to provide power to electrical circuits.
- Install switches, receptacles, control devices, light fixtures, junction boxes, and cable accessories.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision making skills
- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams,



and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
- Use and understand electrical single line diagram and installation details
- Good computer skills that include Microsoft Word and Excel
- Solid mechanical aptitude
- High Voltage/ Utility experience an asset
- Quoting, project management and report writing a definite asset
- High regard for health and safety
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Time management, organization, and prioritization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather and unregulated temperatures as required
- Willingness to learn new skills
- New installations / upgrade / replace industrial main building electrical service / substation
- Test and commission electrical/mechanical systems, equipment, to ensure proper functioning and processes
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Thermography testing (IR Scans)
- Proactively preparing for upcoming work

Candidates selected for employment must have the following:

- Safety boots
- Reliable Transportation
- Safety Certificates such as: Working at Heights, WHMIS, Aerial Platform Training, First aid etc. considered an asset.

Schedule:

- 8 - 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
- Vacation pay 4%

Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
