Position Summary

The Job Coach supports residents and participants in achieving their employment, training, and education goals through individualized, strengths-based, and person-centered support. Working collaboratively with participants, Service Coordinators, program staff, employers, training providers, and community partners, this position helps individuals identify their goals, build skills, access opportunities, and develop pathways toward increased stability, confidence, and community connection.

The Job Coach leads the TTH Supported Employment Program, supporting residents to prepare for, access, and maintain employment opportunities. This position provides individualized coaching and support based on each person’s unique goals, strengths, experiences, and current readiness. Support may include employment preparation, workplace skill development, education and training opportunities, job searching, job placement, and ongoing workplace coaching.

The Job Coach uses a trauma-informed, harm reduction, and person-centered approach to support individuals who may experience significant barriers related to housing instability, substance use, mental health, health challenges, limited employment history, or other life circumstances. This position meets people where they are at and works alongside participants to identify realistic goals and create individualized plans that support success.

Key Responsibilities

Employment, Training and Education Support

- Provide individualized employment, training, and education support based on participant goals, strengths, interests, and readiness.
- Work collaboratively with participants to develop individualized plans that identify goals, next steps, and required supports.
- Support participants with employment readiness, including resume development, job applications, interview preparation, workplace expectations, communication skills, and job retention strategies.
- Support participants in accessing education, training programs, certifications, and skill development opportunities.




- Identify barriers and work collaboratively with participants and support teams to develop strategies that promote success.
- Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, advocacy, and problem-solving support throughout each participant’s journey.
- Support participants in building confidence, workplace skills, independence, and connection to the community.

TTH Supported Employment Program

- Lead the development and implementation of the TTH Supported Employment Program.
- Work collaboratively with TTH Service Coordinators and program staff to identify participant goals and coordinate employment, training, and education supports.
- Support residents through the full employment process, including preparation, job searching, placement, onboarding, and employment retention.
- Provide workplace coaching and onsite support, including attending job sites with participants when required.
- Support participants and employers in addressing workplace challenges, communication needs, and barriers to successful employment.
- Develop employment opportunities and pathways that align with participant goals and abilities.

Community and Employer Partnerships

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with employers, businesses, training providers, educational institutions, and community organizations.
- Identify employment opportunities, volunteer placements, training opportunities, and other community-based learning experiences.
- Collaborate with employers to support successful participant placements and positive workplace relationships.
- Promote inclusive employment practices and support employers in creating welcoming workplaces.

Collaboration, Documentation and Program Support

- Work collaboratively with TTH Service Coordinators, YKWS program staff,



and community partners to ensure participant supports are coordinated and effective.
- Maintain accurate and confidential participant records, progress notes, employment plans, and program documentation.
- Track participant progress, employment outcomes, training participation, and program activities.
- Support reporting requirements related to program deliverables and funding agreements.
- Identify opportunities to improve employment, training, and education programming.

Qualifications

- Diploma or similar schooling in Employment Counselling, Career Development, Human Services, Social Services, Education, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience providing employment coaching, vocational support, career development, education support, or workforce development services.
- Experience supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, substance use, recovery, mental health challenges, health complexities, or significant barriers to employment.
- Experience developing individualized plans, providing coaching, and supporting individuals in achieving personal goals.
- Experience building relationships with employers, community organizations, training providers, and service providers.
- Experience working within housing, homelessness, Indigenous organizations, social services, employment services, or non-profit organizations is an asset.
- Knowledge of supported employment, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, adult learning, and community-based supports is an asset.
- Recent Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
