- $26.45 - $30.40 per hour

JOB OVERVIEW:
Perform duties under the guidance of the Speech Language Pathologists within the required scope of practice as outlined in the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) including: provision of speech and language intervention to students; carrying out speech, language and hearing screenings; train, model and support students, staff and parents with general oral language strategies, as well as assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication systems
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work within the required scope of practice as outlined in the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- See students on the active caseload following goals outlined by the Speech Language Pathologist and complete necessary reporting as required by CASLPO.
- Complete specific screenings on students with speech and/or language/hearing difficulties at the request of the ISRT, SLP and with valid informed consent.
- Provide in-class support to classroom teachers and designated early childhood educators (e.g. modelling strategies, leading centers, conducting observations, etc). Act as a resource to other educational assistants working directly with students in the school with speech and language needs (e.g. provide activities, provide support in reading the report and modelling strategies,
etc).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two-year college diploma in Early Childhood Educator, Developmental Service Worker, or Social Services Worker, and a one-year certificate in Communicative Disorders Assistant.
- Minimum six-months of professional experience, preferably in a school environment.
- Demonstrated experience communicating with various parties such as students, employees, families, etc.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background check.
