Kays Fresh Market is a locally owned independent grocery store in Charlottetown, specializing in fresh meat, produce, and quality grocery products. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, offering high-quality products, and supporting our local community.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or someone in the early stages of their accounting career to gain valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Controller, you will assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including:

- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconciling bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts
- Assisting with monthly financial reporting and account reconciliations
- Preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting with payroll processing and employee expense reporting
- Supporting inventory and cost accounting processes
- Helping prepare information for year-end financial statements and audits
- Maintaining organized accounting files and documentation
- Assisting with other accounting and office administration duties as required

What We're Looking For

- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field




- CPA preparatory courses or CPA student status is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a cooperative team
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Experience with accounting software and retail inventory systems is considered an asset but is not required.
