Job Overview

Join our dedicated Dietary Services team as a Dietary Aide / Cook, where your passion for food preparation and resident care will make a meaningful difference every day. In this role, you will prepare nutritious meals, assist with meal service, and help create a pleasant dining experience for our residents. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, you will support residents' nutritional needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Duties

- Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to approved menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic diets.
- Portion and present food in accordance with established serving standards and resident dietary requirements.
- Assist with meal service, including tray assembly, dining room setup, and beverage service.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention and control, and workplace safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, dining rooms, and storage areas.
- Receive, store, rotate, and monitor food supplies using proper food handling and inventory practices.
- Ensure meals are served at appropriate temperatures and within scheduled meal service times.
- Assist in accommodating residents with special dietary needs, allergies, texture modifications, and nourishments as directed.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, and the Registered Dietitian regarding meal services and resident preferences.
- Complete required cleaning schedules, temperature logs, production records, and other departmental documentation.
- Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, and safety concerns to the Dietary Supervisor or Manager.
- Participate in departmental meetings, in-service education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.





Qualifications

- Food Handler Certificate (required).
- Cook or Dietary Aide experience in a healthcare, long-term care, retirement, or hospitality setting is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, texture-modified diets, and nutritional requirements for older adults is an asset.
- Understanding of food safety legislation, sanitation practices, and infection prevention and control procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and food quality.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a compassionate, resident-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word, are considered an asset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Work Schedule

- 7-hour shifts
- Morning Shift: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Afternoon Shift: 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Regular Schedule: 7 shifts per bi-weekly pay period
- On-call shifts: Candidates must be available to work on-call shifts as required to provide coverage for vacation, illness, or other operational needs.
- Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Pay: From $23.45 per hour

Work Location: In person
