Matrix HR is recruiting on behalf of a leading Energy Services client for a Data Governance Analyst to support a major SAP S/4HANA transformation program.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing the governance frameworks, standards, and processes required to ensure high-quality, consistent, and trusted enterprise data.
What You'll Do
As a Data Governance Analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to establish governance standards, improve data quality, and support a successful SAP S/4HANA implementation.
Governance Framework & Standards
- Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures for critical master data domains, including Customer, Vendor, Material, and Finance.
- Establish data ownership, stewardship models, and governance processes across multiple business functions.
- Collaborate with business and IT teams to define business rules, data definitions, and governance standards.
- Support the implementation of enterprise data governance frameworks and best practices.
Data Quality & Migration
- Support data migration activities, including data cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance.
- Develop and monitor data quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting.
- Identify data quality issues and partner with stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure data is accurate, complete, and ready to support SAP S/4HANA deployment.
Compliance & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support compliance with internal governance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review governance documentation and collaborate with audit and compliance teams as required.
- Facilitate workshops to align business stakeholders on data ownership, standards, and governance practices.
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, and Information Services teams.
Technical Enablement
- Support the implementation and ongoing administration of data governance and data quality tools.
- Maintain metadata, data catalogues, and governance documentation.
- Assist with project closeout activities by ensuring all data-related deliverables are completed and formally approved.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3 7 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or Master Data Management.
- Experience with enterprise data governance practices and data governance/data quality tools.
- Experience supporting SAP implementations, preferably SAP S/4HANA.
- Robust understanding of master data domains, including Customer, Vendor, Material, and Finance.
- Experience with data migration, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and ongoing data quality management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working across large enterprise organizations.
- A hands-on,
execution-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of SAP data structures, tables, and transactions.
- Strong understanding of databases, data structures, and master data concepts.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Experience with one or more of the following data governance platforms is considered an asset:
- SAP MDG
- Prospecta MDO
- Microsoft Purview
- SAP DataSphere
- SAP Information Steward
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale ERP or SAP transformation programs.
- Experience within the Energy, Utilities, or other asset-intensive industries.
- Understanding of enterprise data governance, regulatory compliance, and audit requirements.
- Familiarity with asset, customer, vendor, or material master data within complex organizations.
Work Arrangement
- Location: Calgary, Alberta (Hybrid)
- Full-time contract (40 hours per week)
- Hybrid work schedule (three days in the office and two days remote)
- Contract anticipated through June 30, 2027, with potential for extension or future permanent employment based on business needs and performance.
