Sturgeon Falls Brush & Contracting Ltd. is currently seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Float Driver to join our growing team.
Position Summary
The Float Driver is responsible for the safe and productive transportation of heavy equipment to and from job sites throughout Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, excellent driving skills, and a strong commitment to safety while ensuring equipment is transported in accordance with all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment
- Perform daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Ensure all loads comply with MTO regulations and load securement requirements
- Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation
- Coordinate with dispatch and site supervisors regarding deliveries and pickups
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of the truck and trailer
- Report any mechanical issues, incidents, or safety concerns promptly
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients and the public
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Class AZ Driver's License
- Clean driver's abstract and CVOR
- Experience transporting heavy equipment using a float trailer
- Strong knowledge of load securement and transportation regulations
- Ability to operate heavy equipment for loading and unloading is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel throughout Northern Ontario as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in forestry, construction or heavy equipment industries
- Mechanical aptitude
- First Aid/CPR certification (asset)
