Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our construction team. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment to support site preparation, grading, excavation, and underground utility projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working on civil construction projects, be able to read and interpret construction drawings, and take pride in producing quality work while maintaining a safe and productive job site.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, skid steers, and other equipment as required.
- Perform site preparation, rough grading, finish grading, and foundation excavations.
- Excavate for underground utilities, including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, electrical, and communications services.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, grading plans, site layouts, and survey stakes.
- Work to design grades, elevations, and project specifications.
- Conduct daily pre-operational equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements.
- Perform basic equipment care and preventative maintenance as required.
- Work safely around existing underground and overhead utilities, structures, traffic, and other trades.
- Follow Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation and all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with general construction duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience with site preparation, site grading, foundation excavation, and underground utility work.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings,
grading plans, and site layouts.
- Experience working with grade stakes, laser levels, or GPS machine control systems is an asset.
- Solid understanding of safe excavation, trenching, and construction practices.
- Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to producing quality work.
Required Safety Certifications (Tickets)
Applicants must possess, or be willing to obtain prior to starting employment:
- CSTS 2020 (Construction Safety Training System)
- WHMIS 2015
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C preferred)
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence

Working Conditions

- Travel to various project sites may be required.
Pay: $42.00 per hour
