Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Industrial Electrician / Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team at Nuvate Inc. In this important role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems throughout our production facility.
The successful candidate must be able to take ownership of maintenance responsibilities, work independently without direct supervision, identify problems, prioritize work, and follow repairs and projects through to proper completion. This is a hands-on position that includes industrial electrical work, mechanical maintenance, equipment installation, facility repairs, and continuous-improvement projects.
Duties
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, modify, and install industrial electrical systems, production machinery, control panels, and related equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections of polyurethane moulding machines, chillers, water heaters, air compressors, pumps, motors, sensors, control panels, and other factory equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, motor, sensor, and industrial control-system problems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and take ownership of issues from initial diagnosis through repair, testing, and follow-up.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and other technical documents.
- Install, align, calibrate, commission, modify, and relocate machinery and electrical systems as required.
- Complete mechanical repairs, basic fabrication, plumbing, equipment installations, facility repairs, and other general factory projects.
- Support PLC-controlled equipment, industrial automation, machine-safety, energy-efficiency, and equipment-improvement projects.
- Work independently and manage maintenance priorities without continuous supervision.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production employees to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Work with contractors, suppliers,
and equipment manufacturers when additional technical assistance or specialized service is required.
- Record completed maintenance activities and manage preventive-maintenance schedules using Google Forms, digital calendars, and other company systems.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, maintenance supplies, and accurate equipment service records.
- Follow the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, lockout/tagout procedures, and all company and workplace safety requirements.
- Perform other maintenance, mechanical, and facility-related duties as required.
Qualifications
- A valid Ontario 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification, or an equivalent electrical qualification recognized in Ontario, is required.
- Previous experience performing industrial electrical and equipment maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and complete work without continuous supervision.
- Strong knowledge of motors, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, control panels, low-voltage wiring, and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Mechanical knowledge involving pumps, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, chillers, water heaters, compressed-air systems, and other industrial machinery.
- Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance, equipment installations, facility repairs, and general hands-on factory work in addition to electrical work.
- Knowledge of industrial safety requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving,
and time-management skills.
- Personal tools appropriate for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation.
- Experience maintaining polyurethane manufacturing or moulding equipment.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, chillers, water heaters, pumps, motors, and air compressors.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, machining, plumbing, or equipment installation.
- Forklift or elevated-work-platform certification.
Schedule and Availability
- Full-time position with a regular 40-hour work week.
- Overtime may be required in special circumstances.
- Occasional evening, night, or weekend support may be required for equipment breakdowns or urgent troubleshooting.
- Must be available for on-call support when scheduled or required.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and safely lift moderate loads.
- Ability to work at heights and from ladders or elevated platforms when properly trained.
- Comfortable working around active industrial machinery.
- Working conditions may include noise, dust, fumes or odours, vibration, varying temperatures, and occasional indoor or outdoor work.
- Required personal protective equipment must be worn.
Compensation
$40–$45 per hour, depending on electrical licence, skills, and industrial maintenance experience.
