Salary range: $75,000 - $80,000

Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Hours per week: 37.5

Paid leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year

SAIT is looking for a Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst to join our Information Technology Services team! This role is responsible for ensuring that SAIT’s software assets are properly managed and utilized in full compliance with vendor contracts.

Key responsibilities include recommending, supporting, and maintaining SAM policies and procedures, assisting with software procurement, and maintaining an inventory of all software assets across the institution. The position also involves tracking and updating license data, monitoring usage patterns, supporting compliance audits, and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain an effective SAM program at SAIT.

How you'll contribute

- Maintain software inventory records, including license keys and entitlements, to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
- Monitor alerts for upcoming expirations and provide reporting to Director for renewal process.
- Analyze software usage and licensing data to identify opportunities for optimization, cost savings, and compliance improvements.
- Facilitate software license and contractual decommissioning in conjunction with application specialists.
- Assess and harvest unused licenses to achieve optimal software utilization.
- Create and generate reports to communicate software asset management activities and results.
- Manage service ticket queue and ensure timely resolution of software requests.
- Conduct audits of software licenses to reconcile compliance and verify licensing agreements.
- Reconcile data and document vendor contract and license information vs. deployed instances to verify compliance,



associated dates, license keys, stakeholders, cost, and billing information.
- Liaise between SAIT and vendors to obtain software information and application files.

What you bring

- Diploma in Technical or Administrative Management, or related technical field. A Bachelor's Degree in a related field would be an asset.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in application licensing or a related role, 3 - 5 years of experience is preferred.
- ITIL Foundations Certification or Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of Software Asset Management (SAM) practices and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with software license agreements, compliance requirements, and software lifecycle management (deployment, upgrades, and retirement).
- Experience creating reports on software consumption and entitlement status.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams), and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to identify license risks and optimization opportunities.
- Experience participating in internal software audits and compliance reviews.
- Capacity to deal with sensitive licensing information and maintain confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards.
- Skilled in business engagement with stakeholders across various organizational levels.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
