Maintenance Planner

Job Summary
Merlin Plastics Supply Inc. is looking for an experienced and organized Maintenance Planner to join our team. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, developing preventive maintenance schedules, managing work orders, and supporting equipment reliability initiatives. This role will work closely with the Maintenance Team and Plant Management to ensure efficient maintenance operations while minimizing production downtime.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and maintain weekly maintenance schedules in collaboration with the Area Maintenance and Plant Manager.
- Plan, prioritize, and schedule preventive maintenance activities, work requests, and repair tasks using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain and improve preventive maintenance programs to increase equipment reliability and availability.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production interruptions and maximize equipment uptime.
- Schedule work orders based on priority, parts availability, manpower, and required maintenance backlog.
- Work closely with maintenance leadership to support resource planning and effective communication.
- Monitor maintenance performance, track work completion, and maintain accurate reports.
- Prepare and maintain documentation including work scopes, engineering drawings, material lists, purchase orders, permits, and contracts.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding materials, tools, and equipment requirements.
- Assist with planning and installation of new equipment and improvement projects.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow company safety procedures,
including lockout/tagout requirements.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, or equipment concerns to the Maintenance and Plant Manager.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency and plant reliability.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or industrial maintenance coordination.
- Experience using a CMMS system is preferred.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices and maintenance scheduling.
- Ability to organize multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).
