Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified, innovative, and compassionate associate therapist specializing in Play Therapy/RP/ RSW to join our team as an Independent Contractor. This role specializes in supporting children and youth presenting with various developmental diagnoses (including Autism and ADHD) as well as diverse mental health needs. This role will begin with a minimal number of hours, with excellent potential for growth and increased caseload as we transition into our new facility and expand our client base across the Durham Region. As a contractor, you will enjoy clinical autonomy while benefiting from the administrative support, community reputation, and colaborative network of an established and trusted practice. This is a foundational role where you wil help us build our clinical culture from the ground up at our new South Whitby location.
Key Responsibilities
● Conduct clinical assessments, intake sessions, and psychosocial screenings tailored for children, adolescents, and their families.
● Design and implement creative, age-appropriate, and goal-oriented treatment plans using play therapy and other expressive modalities to support neurodivergent clients and those presenting with mental health challenges.
● Facilitate individual play therapy or counseling sessions that promote emotional regulation, trauma processing, self-expression, and healthy coping mechanisms.
● Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, and termination summaries) in accordance with college standards.
● Collaborate with parents/guardians,
providing family consultations and parent coaching when appropriate.
● Partner with our expanding multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic, wrap-around care.

● Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, Psychology, Psychotherapy, or a related field with specialized training in Play Therapy.
● Regulation: Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) is highly preferred/required; qualifying RPs may apply as well.
● Specialized Certification: Certification or advanced training through the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (CACPT) / Play Therapy Canada, or the Association for Play Therapy (APT) is highly preferred.
● Experience: Proven experience working clinically with children and youth, specifically those with developmental diagnoses (such as Autism and ADHD) and mental health needs.
● Skills: Strong understanding of neurodiversity-affirming care, attachment theory, and trauma-informed practices. An entrepreneurial mindset suited for independent contract work.
● Requirements: Professional liability insurance, and a current Vulnerable Sector Check
Pay: $50.00-$100.00 per hour
