Position Summary

Family Services of Central Alberta (FSCA) is seeking a qualified and dedicated Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) Mentor to join our team. This role provides relationship-based support to individuals who are capable of having children, who have self-reported use of alcohol and/or drugs OR people with a FASD diagnosis themselves or delivered a child with FASD. The PCAP Mentor supports individuals with life skills, maintaining sobriety or reducing use of substances, and self-directed goals to promote healthy, independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide mentoring and support to program participants.
- Carry a caseload of up to 15 participants.
- Assist clients in developing individualized,



client-led goals that promote stability, well-being, and resilience.
- Support clients in navigating and accessing community resources (e.g., mental health supports, addiction recovery services, housing, parenting programs).
- Promote healthy parent–child interactions and assist clients in developing strategies to strengthen family functioning, for individuals who are parenting.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program requirements and agency standards.
- Participate in supervision, case consultations, team meetings, and required training.

What We’re Looking For

- Experience supporting individuals affected by substance use, addictions, mental health concerns, trauma, or FASD.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with families experiencing complex challenges in a respectful, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, community resources, and child development principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including thorough documentation and case management abilities.
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Child & Youth Care, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for community-based work.
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Record Check.

Pay: $24.06-$26.00 per hour
