Made By AKB is a local Calgary bakeshop that opened its very first location in the beautiful community of Savanna in September 2022. From its humble homegrown beginnings, Made By AKB has become an integral part of the Calgary community; continuously striving to provide unique pastries and drinks. With experience from Dutch entrepreneurs, and French pastry chefs, and tasteful qualities brought from New York, we take pride in bringing extensive coffee knowledge, respectful service, and multicultural desserts to Calgarians.

Made By AKB is hiring a Barista/Front Of House. This is a Part-Time position with an opportunity to extend to full-time. We are looking for a passionate individual to fill this role. The ideal candidate for this position should be a team player and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail. We are seeking customer service-oriented individuals with excellent communication/speaking skills who share a strong passion for serving coffee, crafting handcrafted drinks, upselling

Job Responsibilities and Requirements include but are not limited to:

Café Operations

- Preparing, accurately weighing/measuring espresso and coffee
- Crafting and serving drip coffee and hot/iced beverages
- Attentive to flavor and quality
- Attentive to fine details and precision with the ability to take instruction/constructive criticism
- Ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, dishes, and equipment throughout the shift
- Preparing simple batters and crafting certain pastries for pastry case
- Upselling daily pastry case items
- Taking payment through the point of sale system (i.e. Cash, Credit, Interac)
- Responsible for menu research and development throughout seasons/holidays

General





- Consistently offering professional and engaging service while providing support and assistance to the team
- Must be able to execute recipes consistently according to business standards in terms of taste and aesthetic
- Ability to focus attention on customer specifications while remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health/safety protocols including other policies/procedures
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when representing the bakeshop on or off-site

Education/Experience

- Prior experience in a café is required. Unfortunately, we will not be considering applicants who have not previously worked in a café
- Excellent technical/ingredient knowledge of coffees and drinks is required
- Customer service skills and excellent communication are required
- Professional education/experience from certificates/diplomas is an asset
- A minimum of 1-year food service experience is an asset

Made By AKB is a quick-paced, high-volume environment with a complex operation of several types of pastries and drinks. We offer takeout, and dine-in and have a growing component of wholesale and shipping. Flexible availability and prior knowledge, experience, or education are major assets.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $15.25-$15.75 per hour
