Harmony Hills Early Learning Academy & Youth Centre is a newly established, premium licensed child care centre located in Newmarket, Ontario. As we continue to grow, we are excited to launch our Kindergarten Program this September and are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and inspiring Kindergarten Teacher to lead and shape this new program.

Position Summary

The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports children's cognitive, social-emotional, physical, language, and creative development. Working collaboratively with educators, families, and the leadership team, the teacher implements an emergent, play-based curriculum that aligns with the Ontario Kindergarten Program, How Does Learning Happen?, and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).

strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering each child's individual growth through inquiry-based learning and meaningful relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Planning & Implementation

- Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate learning experiences based on the Ontario Kindergarten Program.
- Deliver a high-quality play-based and inquiry-based curriculum that encourages exploration, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Create weekly lesson plans that incorporate literacy, numeracy, science, technology, arts, physical education, and social-emotional learning.
- Design engaging indoor and outdoor learning experiences that support children's interests and developmental needs.
- Integrate music, movement, sensory experiences, STEM activities, and creative arts into daily programming.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and developmental levels.
- Promote independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills through meaningful learning opportunities.
- Teaching French to children and improving students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with a focus on real progress and academic improvement.

- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation.




- Stay current with Ontario Ministry of Education policies and best practices.
- Participate in continuous professional learning.
- Maintain required certifications and clear criminal reference checks.
- Represent the centre positively within the community.

QualificationsRequired

- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Eligible for or holding membership with the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching Kindergarten or early primary-aged children.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunization records as required.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Ontario Kindergarten Program
- Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH)
- ELECT principles
- Inclusive education practices
- Native-level fluency in English and strong French proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in licensed child care settings.
- Knowledge of Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Experience using pedagogical documentation.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Experience communicating with families using digital platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
