Unionville Home Society (UHS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization located in Unionville that has provided leadership in service to seniors since 1967. Unionville Home Society and its affiliate corporations operate a long-term care home, seniors’ housing, a seniors’ active living center, an adult day program, and geriatric outreach services. Position

The Business & People Operations Coordinator is a dynamic, people-focused professional who supports organizational excellence through talent acquisition, employee engagement, workforce planning, and business operations. Working collaboratively across the organization, this role helps build a high-performing, engaged workforce while supporting strategic initiatives that advance our mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities

Business Operations & Organizational Support

- Coordinates and supports strategic business initiatives and departmental projects.
- Prepares reports, presentations, dashboards, and business correspondence.
- Develops, maintains, and improves administrative processes, tracking tools, policies, and documentation.
- Maintains accurate records while ensuring strict confidentiality.
- Supports audits, compliance activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Provides exceptional customer service.
- Assists with special projects and organizational priorities as assigned.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

- Coordinates the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, and onboarding.
- Builds and maintains relationships with colleges, universities, employment agencies, and community partners to strengthen recruitment pipelines.
- Maintains recruitment metrics and applicant tracking systems.
- Supports workforce planning initiatives that help attract, retain, and develop exceptional employees.

Employee Engagement & Organizational Development

- Leads and supports employee engagement initiatives through the Committee for Recognition, Engagement & Wellness (CREW).
- Coordinates employee surveys and supports action planning based on results.
- Promotes initiatives that foster employee wellness, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Coordinates learning and professional development opportunities, including new employee orientation and mandatory annual education.




- Assists in developing succession planning, leadership development, and employee retention strategies.

Human Resources Operations

- Maintains employee records and HR documentation in accordance with legislative and organizational requirements.
- Coordinates employee leaves, workplace accommodations, return-to-work plans, and WSIB claims.
- Prepares HR reports and analyze workforce metrics including recruitment, turnover, absenteeism, and retention trends.
- Supports performance management processes, including performance reviews and coaching documentation.
- Conducts workplace investigations and fact-finding meetings, as appropriate.
- Supports collective agreement administration and interpretation where applicable.
- Facilitates the organization's bi-weekly orientation program for new employees and coordinates onboarding with internal departments.
- Provides reception and customer service coverage when required to ensure continuity of service for residents, families, staff, and visitors.

Health, Safety & Compliance

- Co-chairs the Joint Health & Safety Committee and supports organizational compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
- Assists in developing and maintaining HR policies that comply with applicable legislation and organizational standards.
- Ensures HR practices align with the Employment Standards Act (2000), Occupational Health and Safety Act (1990), Human Rights Code (1990), Fixing Long-Term Care Act (2021), privacy legislation, and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education

- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related discipline.
- CHRP designation (or working toward designation) is considered an asset.

Experience

- 2–3 years of progressive experience in human resources, business operations, or organizational development.
- Experience in healthcare, seniors' services, or long-term care is preferred.
- Experience supporting recruitment, employee engagement, and HR operations.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- Robust knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Understanding of talent acquisition, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
- Excellent organizational,



planning, and project coordination skills.
- Strong analytical abilities with experience interpreting workforce data and trends.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to handle highly confidential information.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
