Premier Marine Canada partners with Canada's largest retailers to bring offshore products to shelf and is actively growing into the U.S. market. Our product development team works directly with these national accounts to build both branded and private label seafood programs, from concept through plant production.

The Opportunity

We're hiring an Assistant Product Developer to join our R&D; team full-time. You'll help design recent products and improve existing ones — balancing raw materials, nutrition, cost, flavour, and manufacturing capability — while working hands-on in the test kitchen and on the plant floor. This is a strong next step for someone with a few years of food industry experience who wants to grow into a full Product Developer role, with direct exposure to national retail accounts along the way.

What You'll Do

- Support development of new products and improvements
- Work confidently hands-on in the test kitchen to build concepts, lab samples, and execute customer presentations
- Manage projects from concept through to plant production, liaising closely with QA and Operations
- Work directly with manufacturing teams to hit product specifications




- Track consumer and manufacturing trends to spot opportunities for new products or improvements

What You Must Have

- Food product development experience
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field
- 2–5 years' experience in the food industry, including culinary experience
- Experience with at least one protein category — seafood, meat, poultry, or dairy
- Working knowledge of Canadian food labelling requirements
- Understanding of how products move through manufacturing and retail distribution
- Strong communication skills and comfort working across customer, co-packer, and internal teams
- Able to multi-task, shift priorities, and hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Solid MS Office skills; private label software experience a plus
- Comfortable with occasional travel; personal vehicle required

Nice to Have

- Spoken and written Mandarin
- 1–3 years specifically in R&D; or product development at a food manufacturer
- Experience managing projects with international production/co-pack facilities
- A genuine passion for food

Pay: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
