Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize orthodontic instruments to ensure a safe and efficient environment
- Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, adjustments, and wire changes with precision and care
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic appliances and treatments
- Take and develop dental impressions using iTero technology for appliance fabrication
- Manage patient records using dental software like Dolphin, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Schedule appointments, confirm patient visits, and coordinate follow-up care seamlessly
- Support front desk duties by greeting patients, answering questions, and managing insurance paperwork
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting with a focus on orthodontics preferred
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Dentrix and Epic for record management
- Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, appliances, and terminology to assist effectively
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and orthodontics
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients of all ages, including pediatrics, about their treatment plans
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Certification in dental assisting or related field required; additional certifications in orthodontics are a plus
