2nd / 3rd Year Refrigeration Service Technician

Urban Mechanical Ltd. is a growing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and controls company serving Calgary and the surrounding area. We are looking for a motivated 2nd or 3rd Year Refrigeration Apprentice to join our service team.

This position is best suited for someone who has experience in commercial service work, is comfortable troubleshooting equipment, and wants to continue building their skills in refrigeration, HVAC, and mechanical systems.

Position Overview

The Refrigeration Service Technician will assist with and perform diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and installations on commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment. The successful candidate should be reliable, professional, safety-focused, and able to communicate clearly with customers and team members.

Responsibilities

- Troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment
- Assist with preventative maintenance inspections
- Work on RTUs, MUAs, walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, reach-in coolers/freezers, and related mechanical equipment
- Complete accurate service reports and document findings
- Communicate equipment deficiencies and recommended repairs
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and work area




- Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices
- Participate in the on-call rotation when required

Qualifications

- 2nd or 3rd Year Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Apprentice
- Commercial refrigeration and HVAC service experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional attitude when dealing with customers and site staff
- Basic hand tools required
- Gas ticket is an asset
- Controls experience is an asset

Schedule

- Monday to Friday
- On-call rotation as required
- Overtime available when required
