STEM Instructor at RoboThink Northwest Toronto
RoboThink is looking for energetic, patient, and friendly class instructors to lead kids in having fun while learning!
We are a STEM edu-tainment company that introduces children in grades K-8 to robotics and coding concepts through the use of our patented robot building blocks and easy-to-use coding software. We’re looking to expand our company with smart, creative, and fun instructors to join our team!
Qualifications:
- Energetic and passionate about working with K-8 children
- Prior experience working with children, or coaching sports or recreation programs in a learning environment is preferred
- Experienced with technology, robotics and/or coding (Scratch, Python etc.) or willing to learn and be proficient at it
- Strong adaptability, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to take initiative, work well independently and with a team
- Have patience and empathy to support and encourage learners at different skill levels and paces
- Able to get creative in designing engaging, hands-on activities that make complex concepts accessible and fun
- Must have a car and be able to travel to running classes located in Caledon and potentially Brampton or King
- Must be available to work weekends and some weekdays
- Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED
- High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) an asset
- Recent or to-be graduate of a teaching, ECE, ECA degree/diploma, or equivalent an asset
Prior knowledge of robotics/coding is NOT necessary.
We are more than happy to provide training to candidates who do not have a robotics/coding background.
Job Description:
- Familiarize oneself with RoboThink hardware and course materials, carefully study the curriculum, teacher training manual, classroom procedures, and policies
- Use RoboThink materials to conduct classes – pay attention to individual students to help them with the learning process; organize fun games in class; address beahvioural issues and troubleshoot technical issues
- Communicate with parents/partners on students' progress
- Administrative tasks such as taking attendance, organizing tech equipment, curriculum binders and printouts
- Provide feedback and concerns back to RoboThink's management team
- Transport of class materials from storage to the classroom; clean up and pack away classroom materials for transport back to storage
