We are currently seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and culturally aware Administrative Assistant to support our growing First Nations practice.
This role supports First Nations leadership initiatives, governance projects, community engagement, reporting, and day-to-day administrative processes. The successful candidate will work closely with legal professionals, administrators, and community representatives while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and respect.
We are looking for someone calm, approachable, relationship-focused, and able to manage competing priorities while contributing to meaningful work that supports Indigenous communities and self-governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative, Project, and Community Support
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, meeting materials, and other qualified documents.
- Coordinate calendars, meetings, workshops, consultations, and community engagement sessions.
- Maintain records, project files, tracking tools, deadlines, deliverables, and follow-up items.
- Support First Nations governance, policy, strategic planning, consultation, and service delivery projects.
- Assist with meeting minutes, action items, project updates, reports, and stakeholder communications.
Technology,
Innovation, and Relationship Management
- Use AI tools to support drafting, research, meeting summaries, reporting, and workflow efficiencies.
- Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes through technology.
- Build respectful working relationships with administrative teams, community members, government representatives, and partner organizations.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Administrative, executive support, or project coordination experience, supported by excellent references.
- Excellent organization, time management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Comfort using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
- Experience working in a Law Firm, would be an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations, Indigenous organizations, Tribal Councils, or Indigenous communities, would be an asset.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous governance, community engagement, and cultural respect, would be an asset.
Employment Details
- Full-time permanent position.
- Health Benefits Package and vacation time provided.
- Primarily based in Kamloops, with occasional travel as required.
- Salary range: $50,000–$60,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
