StudySpot is looking for Academic Coach/Mentors to provide academic support to middle school and high school, students in Toronto and the surrounding Greater Toronto Area, for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.

Academic Coaching is an effective form of academic support that targets how student learn as opposed to what they learn. For over 20 years, StudySpot has provided academic coaching support to bright, capable, post-secondary bound students who underachieve due to a lack of organization and/or academic skills.

The primary function of the Academic Coach is to work one-on-one with adolescent students to teach, practice, and apply effective executive and academic skills. The areas of focus are :

Executive Skills

Organization

Time Management

Planning

Academic Skills

Reading & Notetaking

Writing

Test and Exam Preparation.

Coaching sessions are delivered in-person at local libraries around the Greater Toronto Area. Coaches work from libraries that are located geographically accessible to both coach and students. Some sessions may take place virtually on our StudySpot platform. Training provided.

We typically work with students after school, evenings, and on weekends. A coaches caseload is typically between 4 and 6 students per week, for a total of 4 to 9 hours per week,



Larger caseloads are possible. The number of students will depend greatly on the coaches availability and geographic accessibility to libraries in Toronto.

Qualifications

- Strong academic background. A Masters degree completed or in progress preferred.
- All academic disciplines considererd. Preference to degrees in Psychology, Education, and STEM programs.
- Previous Academic Coaching or Learning Strategy/Strategist experience is highly valued.
- Experience working with adolescents with ADHD, and learning challenges is highly valued.
- If you have personal experience with ADHD or learning challenges and have overcome them to achieve academic success, I am interested in speaking with you.
- Competitive athletic background, including university varsity sports, is highly valued.

Compensation range is $27.50 - $32.50 per hour. Premium paid for in-person coaching sessions.
