We are seeking a Skiptender to contribute to the daily operations of our underground mine. The Skiptender is responsible for loading broken rock into skips from underground loading pockets and to operate the signal system to move and spot skip for the purpose of transporting personnel and materials to various shaft stations.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Transport personnel and materials.
- Manually load and unload material into and from skip.
- Initiate and return directional and executive signal regarding movement of skips.
- Operates control valves to regulate flow of broken rock.
- Bar, wash or blast down hang ups and remove foreign material from feed.
- Check pockets and bins for tonnage estimates.
- Visually inspect walkways and shaft timber.
- Assist maintenance workers with repairs as required.
- Keep shaft stations, lunchrooms and toilet facilities in order, clean and safe condition.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adheres to all safety procedures such as Hot Work, Lock, Tag & Try, Linebreaking and Confined Space.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as needed prior to performing job or task.
Education/Experience:
- Grade 12 diploma required.
