The Bigstone Health Commission is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to join our Homecare team on a casual basis. This is a rewarding prospect to provide essential care and support to clients within the Bigstone Cree Nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to clients on Bigstone Reserve
- Assist client with transferring/positioning and daily living activities
- Monitoring of client’s health/psychological status including but not limited to V/S (blood pressure monitoring, pulse, blood glucose, weight), and report any changes in clients’ conditions promptly
- Assist in teaching of personal care tasks to the client; promote independence of clients by teaching the client
- Ensure client safety and maintain a high standard of infection control and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate daily documentation (verbal and written)
- Support the client with medication reminders and assist with medication delivery as directed by nursing staff
- Assist homemakers with homemaking services, including light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe home environment
- Organizing supplies, assisting with equipment organization
- Assisting with health promotion activities and programs
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Understanding, patient, and respectful toward clients’ cultural, social, and emotional needs
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Physically able to perform job-related tasks
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide Training
- Registered and in good standing with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
