POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for performing a variety of construction survey activities on major industrial projects throughout the Fort McMurray region.
Working a 14 days on / 7 days off rotational schedule, you'll complete high-precision survey work supporting civil, structural, mechanical, and infrastructure construction projects. This role is ideal for an experienced survey professional who enjoys working in challenging field environments while collaborating with project teams to deliver quality results.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll perform a variety of survey activities supporting both construction and active mining operations throughout the Fort McMurray region. From construction layouts and as-builts to production surveys and grade verification, you'll play an important role in delivering accurate survey data that keeps projects moving safely and efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Construction Survey Operations
- Perform construction layout for foundations, anchor bolts, concrete structures, steel erection, underground utilities, roads, and grading.
- Complete topographic, as-built, and quantity surveys.
- Operate Trimble GPS, robotic total stations, digital levels, and other survey equipment.
- Collect accurate field data and maintain complete survey records.
- Verify survey accuracy through established QA/QC procedures.
- Interpret engineering drawings, site plans, and design models.
Project Support
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, and Construction crews.
- Assist with survey calculations and field problem-solving.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Maintain survey equipment and vehicles in good working condition.
Safety
- Follow all client and company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and required documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture while working around heavy equipment and active construction sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of construction surveying experience .
- Experience with industrial, mining, civil, or heavy construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction layout and survey principles.
- Experience operating Trimble GPS and robotic total stations.
- Experience with Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center (TBC) is considered a solid asset.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction plans.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- CSTS 2020
- CSO
- H2S Alive
- Standard First Aid with CPR
- Ground Disturbance Level II (asset)
- Ability to obtain and maintain client site access.
- Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a permanent basis at the time of application.
