Child Care Eligibility Specialist

Location: Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)

Job Type: 6-Month Contract

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM (Alberta Time)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Child Care Eligibility Specialist to support the administration of child care programs and services for families, child care providers, and stakeholders across Alberta. This role is responsible for reviewing applications, determining eligibility, processing program requests, and providing exceptional client service while ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and program guidelines.

The ideal candidate has experience in eligibility assessment, benefits administration, case management, customer service, or program administration and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Review, assess, and process applications, renewals, amendments, and supporting documentation.
- Determine client eligibility by evaluating financial information and supporting records in accordance with program policies and guidelines.
- Respond to inquiries from parents, guardians, child care providers, and stakeholders via phone, email, and online channels.
- Provide guidance on eligibility requirements, program policies, application processes, and online services.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to applications, payments, eligibility determinations, and system functionality.
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with privacy, security, and information management requirements.
- Interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures,



and program guidelines when making eligibility decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support effective program delivery.
- Participate in testing, training, process improvements, and operational projects as required.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Deliver empathetic, client-focused service while supporting individuals through complex situations.

Required Qualifications

- Experience in customer service, benefits administration, program administration, case management, social services, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience reviewing documentation and assessing information with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, legislation, and program guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience working with multiple systems and databases.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications





- Experience with government programs, social benefits administration, or eligibility assessment.
- Experience supporting clients through complex or sensitive situations.
- Experience working in a public sector or highly regulated environment.
- Experience using multiple systems and databases simultaneously while providing customer service.

Pay: $35.09-$43.86 per hour

- Are you available to work a hybrid schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM Alberta Time, for a 6-month contract assignment?
