Seeking a detail-oriented and proactive bookkeeper to join a public accounting firm. The bookkeeper will provide support to the accountants and will be able to manage the full-cycle bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate has high attention to detail, adept at meeting deadlines and has excellent communication skills. Previous experience in public accounting is highly preferred.
What You Will Do
- Act as foundational support for accountants and CPAs.
- Full cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients.
- Data entry and maintenance - record daily financial transactions in the general ledger using QuickBooks.
- Reconciliation - reconcile bank accounts and credit cards to ensure records align with bank statements.
- Financial Reporting - aid in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, or annual financial statements such as balance sheets,
income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Year-End Preparation - assist accountants by cleaning up records and preparing working paper files for year-end corporate tax returns.
- Compliance - ensuring compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations, including HST/GST remittances.
- Work in client offices as required.
What You Bring
- 5 years of experience in public accounting.
- Software proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Desktop and CaseWare.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Time management skills - able to pivot between different clients.
- Adept at meeting deadlines.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to clients as well as with other team members.
