Track Loader Operator Job Description

Job Summary

Operate track loaders and related heavy equipment to support construction and infrastructure projects. Ensure safe and efficient operation in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Safely operate track loaders to backfill trenches.

· Safely maneuver equipment around underground utilities, structures, and personnel, following site plans and supervisor instructions.

· Perform daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance checks, and promptly report equipment issues.

· Maintain clean and organized work areas, including haul roads and laydown yards.

· Communicate clearly with supervisors, pipe layers, equipment operators, and ground crew.

· Implement secure work practices, comply with ground disturbance procedures, and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.





· Maintain accurate documentation of loader activities and safety compliance, adhering to company policies, safety regulations, and project specifications.

Reporting Responsibilities

- Report to the Foreman (Site Supervisor).
- Complete daily equipment inspections and submit reports through SiteDocs.
- Communicate equipment issues, safety hazards, and other concerns.
- Review and sign off on all daily tailgate meeting minutes and weekly toolbox talks using SiteDocs
- Report any incidents, injuries, near misses, hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to Foreman (Site Supervisor)
- Complete and submit incident reports, near-miss documentation,
- Progress updates related to work activities.

Qualifications

- Valid operator certification or equivalent training.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of ground disturbance safe work procedures and practices, soil types, and any other safe work procedures and practices related to the work being performed
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and compaction specifications.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.




- Physical ability to perform tasks in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands

- Frequent sitting and operating machinery for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to control levers and foot pedals.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed.
- Walking, standing, bending, and climbing on uneven terrain.
- Exposure to vibration, noise, and outdoor elements.
- Climb in and out of equipment safely and frequently.

Work Environment

- Work performed outdoors on active construction sites, including water and sewer installation and rehabilitation projects.
- Exposure to dust, noise, mud, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety boots, and high-visibility clothing.

· Typical work hours are 8–10 hour shifts with potential for overtime, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, as required by project schedules
