Duties
- Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport freight over short and long distances, following all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and other securing devices to prevent shifting or damage during transit
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load security equipment
- Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and safety procedures are followed
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, driver logs, and freight documentation for compliance and tracking purposes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers,
warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime on the road
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), preferably with flatbed specialization
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and load securing techniques specific to flatbed transportation
- Familiarity with automotive repair basics for troubleshooting common vehicle issues on the road
- Prior experience in heavy equipment operation is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed
