Easter Seals, Newfoundland and Labrador is a charitable organization that has served the province since 1937. We are dedicated to engaging, inspiring, and empowering persons with disabilities through life-changing programs and services. For more than 25 years, we have helped individuals overcome barriers to employment while working with employers to build more inclusive workplaces across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Position Summary
Our Employment and Educational Services Department is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and compassionate Employment Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Employment & Educational Services and working under the guidance of the Employment Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting youth participants as they prepare for, secure, and maintain meaningful employment.
The primary focus of this role is to provide individualized employment support by helping participants identify career goals, develop job search skills, connect with employers, and succeed in the workplace. The Employment Coordinator will also build strong relationships with employers to create inclusive employment opportunities for participants.
This position supports the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) Program, which serves youth aged 15–30 who face multiple barriers to employment. This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) Program, with additional support provided by Easter Seals, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Qualifications Knowledge and Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or individuals facing barriers to employment.
- Experience in employment services, career development, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field.
- Understanding of inclusive employment practices and workplace accommodations.
- Experience developing relationships with employers and community partners.
Skills
- Strong ability to coach and motivate participants throughout their employment journey.
- Confidence engaging employers and promoting inclusive hiring practices.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Robust organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to problem-solve, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing participant needs.
- Comfortable assisting with small group workshops and employment-related training sessions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms.
Education
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Human Services, Social Work, Education, Career Development, Health and Human Sciences, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or individuals facing barriers to employment is considered an asset.
Assets
- Experience working within the non-profit sector.
- Experience facilitating employment readiness or life skills workshops.
- Knowledge of community resources and labour market trends.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving employment goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet individually with participants to assess employment goals, strengths, interests, and support needs.
- Develop and monitor individualized employment action plans.
- Provide one-on-one employment coaching, including resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and workplace readiness.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers to identify employment opportunities and promote inclusive hiring practices.
- Match participants with suitable employment opportunities based on their skills, interests, and goals.
- Support participants during the job search process and provide follow-up to promote successful job retention.
- Conduct regular follow-up with employers to address workplace concerns, celebrate successes, and foster positive employment outcomes.
- Advocate for workplace accommodations and support participants in overcoming barriers to employment.
- Assist in facilitating employment readiness workshops and coordinate guest speakers, workplace tours, and other learning opportunities.
- Promote program services through community outreach, networking, and social media.
- Maintain accurate participant records, notes, and program documentation.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and contribute to continuous program improvement.
Additional Requirements
- Frequent travel within the community is an essential component of this position. The successful candidate must be able to travel regularly to meet with participants, employers, community partners, and other stakeholders, and to support participants at interviews, workplaces, meetings, and other employment-related activities.
- A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required as part of the hiring process.

Pay: $48,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
