**Aerotek is looking to hire conformal coating**

The Coating Operator applies conformal coating to electronic assemblies using both manual spray methods and automated PVA equipment, while ensuring all work meets strict quality, safety, and process standards.

This role includes masking and potting of assemblies, performing touch-ups, completing detailed inspections, and accurately documenting production activities within a clean, organized manufacturing environment.

**Responsibilities**

+ Set up and operate basic manufacturing equipment according to existing specifications, following all safety standards and performing routine production tasks.
+ Manually assemble electronic components, including complex and high-density projects, in accordance with assembly documentation, custom specifications, and quality standards.
+ Operate various types of equipment used in the electronic assembly process to support production needs.
+ Perform final assembly tasks and assist with packing and shipping of products as required.
+ Install, mount, fasten, align, and adjust parts, components, wiring, and harnesses to sub-assemblies and completed assemblies.
+ Communicate effectively with team members, leads, and engineering support to address process issues and quality concerns in a timely manner.
+ Follow maintenance procedures for conformal coating rooms and work benches, including potting equipment and related machinery, and maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
+ Complete production documentation accurately, including job travelers, logs, and any required records to ensure traceability and compliance.
+ Report unsafe equipment or conditions immediately and follow all safety requirements and processes while performing work.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.
+ Mask parts to specified dimensions as instructed in assembly documents, using manual methods such as Kapton tape or hot melt/automated dispensers.
+ Use UV light and other inspection tools to examine masked and coated parts, performing touch-ups and inspections to ensure coatings meet all requirements.
+ Perform potting processes on electronic assemblies using designated machines and follow detailed work instructions.
+ Follow chemical handling and inventory procedures, adhering to all safety processes and regulations for chemical use and storage.
+ Handle and mix coating materials safely in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines.
+ Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for each task and comply with all safety, ESD, and environmental procedures.
+ Operate the PVA automated dispensing and conformal coating machine, including loading chemicals, powering on the machine, activating pneumatic valves, navigating the desktop interface, performing safety checks, inserting boards into the conveyor, running programs, and making manual adjustments as needed.
+ Use a thumb controller to move the sprayer and semiautomatically dispense coating in specific areas of the board when required.
+ Conduct visual inspections of coated boards for quality control by using UV light to quickly identify areas that require touch-up.
+ Perform manual touch-ups on missed or uneven areas by pouring relevant chemicals into containers and applying coating by hand to achieve a level finish, including touching up cured boards with appropriate materials.
+ Load coated boards into UV light curing machines to complete the curing process according to specified procedures.
+ Perform manual conformal coating by loading chemicals into spray tanks, connecting tanks to spray equipment, placing boards on specific jigs, and spraying by hand while maintaining consistent coverage.
+ Follow strict production processes and procedures at all times, maintaining high attention to detail in every step of the assembly and coating workflow.
+ Adhere to ergonomic and physical requirements of the role, including bending, lifting, and crouching as needed to perform assembly and coating tasks.

**Essential Skills**

+ Experience following strict production processes and procedures in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
+ Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)



throughout the shift as required by tasks and safety protocols.
+ Comfort with physical activities such as bending, lifting, and crouching to perform assembly and coating duties.
+ Strong attention to detail when working on assembly, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and PCBA assembly tasks.
+ Experience with soldering-related assembly, including SMT soldering and thru-hole soldering, or the ability to learn these processes.
+ Ability to use production-related computer interfaces, such as desktop controls for automated equipment and digital documentation systems.
+ Proficiency with hand tools and basic production tools used in electronic assembly and coating processes.
+ Capability to operate and learn manufacturing equipment, including automated dispensing machines, UV curing machines, and spray systems.
+ Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, leads, and engineering support regarding process and quality issues.
+ Commitment to safety, including following chemical handling procedures, MSDS guidelines, ESD controls, and environmental regulations.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Direct experience in conformal coating operations or related electronic assembly processes is an asset.
+ Experience working with chemicals in a production or laboratory workplace, including handling, mixing, and inventory control, is preferred.
+ Interest in learning new skills and processes, with the ability to quickly pick up technical tasks when given training and guidance.
+ Flexibility to support different tasks and departments as needed, including cross-training opportunities.
+ Positive, team-oriented mindset and desire to contribute to a supportive, collaborative work environment.
+ Ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow detailed work instructions consistently.
+ Willingness to develop more advanced assembly skills over time, such as soldering, SMT operation, or CNC laser processes.

**Work Environment**

This role is based in a large, organized, clean, and generally quiet production facility with multiple departments on the manufacturing floor.

Team size is approximately 50 people.

Dress code includes wearing a provided smock on the production floor, shoe covers, ear plugs, and goggles as needed, along with closed-toe shoes.

Appropriate PPE is supplied and required for safety.





Shifts include daytime and evening options, with one shift ending at 12:00 AM, and employees typically remain seated at their stations for the majority of the day while performing detailed assembly and coating tasks.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Burnaby, BC.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
