Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified, innovative, and compassionate Art Therapist to join our team as an Independent Contractor. This role specializes in supporting children and youth with developmental diagnoses (including Autism and ADHD) and diverse mental health needs. Initially, this is a part-time position with a few hours per week, offering strong growth potential to increase your caseload as we transition to our South Whitby facility and reach more families in the Durham Region. You will maintain clinical independence as a contractor while utilizing the administrative support and collaborative network of our reputable practice. Join us in this foundational role to help shape our clinical culture at our newest location.
Key Responsibilities
● Conduct clinical art therapy assessments and intake sessions tailored for children, adolescents, and their families.
● Design and implement creative, age-appropriate, goal-oriented treatment plans that support neurodivergent clients and those with mental health challenges.
● Facilitate individual and/or small group sessions promoting emotional regulation, self-expression, social communication, and coping skills.
● Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical documentation (progress notes,
treatment plans, termination summaries).
● Collaborate with parents, guardians, and our multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, wrap-around care.
● Manage personal scheduling and client communications in alignment with practice policies.
Qualifications & Credentials
● Education: Master’s degree or Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
● Skilled Membership: Active membership in good standing with the CATA or OATA.
● Regulation: Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) is highly preferred/required; qualifying RPs may apply as well.
● Experience: Proven experience working clinically with children and youth, specifically those with developmental diagnoses (Autism, ADHD) and mental health needs (anxiety, depression, trauma).
● Skills: Strong understanding of neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed practices. A playful yet professional approach, and an entrepreneurial mindset. ● Requirements: Professional liability insurance, valid driver’s license
Pay: $50.00-$100.00 per hour
